Wind turbine installation

Offshore wind turbines installation is done with the aid of special vessels (Jack-up vessels). Due to the oversize of the sections and the limited space in these vessels, some of the sections are assembled at port (onshore) and carried in as a one - piece to the vessel. The turbine is transported to site and depending how many sections consists the turbine, it is required between 3 up to 6 offshore cranes at the construction site. These operations take time and requires crews on site and at the vessel. The sections are aligned and bolted together from the inside by the crew.

This work is risky for operators due to the required precision of positioning of heavy parts and needed stability of lifting operations. With a YawSTOP device mounted to the crane wire, it will allow for rotation-free and rotation-controlled lifting of windmill components and parts.
